Mission Action Teams from Midtown and Midwest City Celebrate Earth Day

May 07, 2024 04:18 PM -
As a health ministry and individuals, we have a responsibility to do our part to preserve our planet's precious resources. Mission Action Team members from SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital & SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Midwest recently came together to celebrate Earth and Arbor Day.

In partnership with OKC Beautiful, over 13 Saints in Action® planted trees for the Freedom Center of Oklahoma restoration project and the new Clara Luper Civil Rights Center. The Freedom Center of Oklahoma City is located just north of 23rd and Martin Luther King Ave. Their mission is to develop programs to reflect on the past, present and future of the civil rights movement in Oklahoma. The restoration of the Freedom Center building and the Clara Luper Civil Rights Center is part of the MAPS 4 funding, passed in December 2019. The five-acre campus will be used for education, community gathering and empowering the next generation of leaders from northeast Oklahoma City.

It was a great event that allowed us to support our Caring for Creation initiatives, pray for our city, show our commitment to our community and celebrate Earth Day together!

Check out the mobile-friendly recap video below.

This special event was a part of a larger system-wide tree planting project for Earth Day & Arbor Day 2024.
Thanks to all team members participated!
