SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center NICU

The state-of-the-art Dana Brown neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) opened at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in September 2007. Babies born as early as 23 weeks have survived, thanks to new technology and the skilled care our team delivers. We are the only NICU in the St. Louis area that provides private rooms for all of our patients. We have 60 beds and plenty of room for parents to stay with their babies 24 hours a day. Many parents who have had babies in the NICU have bonded with the staff, and the NICU walls are lined with quilts with imprints of babies' feet. These quilts serve as a reminder to everyone that even the weakest patients can grow up healthy and strong and go home with their families.

The SSM Cardinal Glennon NICU uses advanced technologies to provide our neonatologists with quick and efficient radiology results. One option is out state-of-the-art GE Centricity Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS). Our neonatologists may also access images from their home computer. If they are in a patient room in the NICU, X-rays can be accessed immediately in the hallways as soon as the images are taken, saving time and speeding care. If a referring physician calls with a consult, often times the neonatologist can look at the film through the PACS system. It all adds up to complete NICU options you and your newborn can rely on for the best possible care.
