SMM Maternity Care features all of the latest testing procedures to monitor the health and progress of your unborn baby. Some of our tests include:
- Fetal ultrasound, from routine to complex, including echocardiography (detailed evaluation of the heart), genetic sonography (detailed evaluation of the fetus at risk for certain genetic disorders), and Doppler assessment (evaluation of blood flow in the fetus and placenta).
- Fetal testing by non-stress tests (monitoring fetal heart rate patterns) and biophysical profiles (viewing fetal activity using ultrasound).
- Amniocentesis is performed at 15 to 20 weeks. The test is used to detect chromosome abnormalities, open neural tube defects, single gene disorders or, in the third trimester, to determine fetal lung maturity.
