Cross-country Bicyclists Meeting with SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center Patients

A group of bicyclists riding across the country in honor of children with cancer will stop at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center to visit with the young patients they consider heroes.

Team Will is a group of cyclists riding from California to North Carolina to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer through a partnership with Foundation for Children with Cancer. Three teams with 15 total cyclists and six support drivers will travel 3,600 miles in 10 days. Cardinal Glennon is just one of many stops the riders will make nationwide.

While at Cardinal Glennon, the cyclists will ask the patients to sign their jerseys and present hero kits with T-shirts and bracelets to the patients.

“Our goal is to make the kids smile, thank the parents and, for just a period of time, take away from the fact of why they may be there,” said Team Will rider Ken Scarberry. “The riders want to let them know we’ve traveled from California, and we’re doing this ride just for them.”
