ST. PETERS, MO – SSM Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition of Joseph A. Beckmann, MD to the Medical Group’s St. Peters office, on Mexico Road across from the post office. Dr. Beckmann joins Drs. Glenn Brothers and Tysen Petre in the practice of family medicine, providing health care for all ages and stages of life, from birth through the senior years.
Dr. Beckmann received his bachelor's degree from Central Methodist College. He worked his way through college and medical school as a paramedic. Dr. Beckmann graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and then completed his specialty training in Family and Community Medicine at the University of Missouri Hospital, where he served as a chief resident physician. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
After completing his training, Dr. Beckmann continued his affiliation with the University as an assistant professor, serving for 16 years as medical director of their rural teaching practice in Fayette. For the past two years he has practiced with the University Family Medicine Department in Columbia.
Dr. Beckmann's clinical interests and experience span the breadth of family medicine. He is experienced in women's health care and wellness, well child care and common childhood illness, men's health, adult medicine, and care of seniors. His broad training allows him to coordinate the care his patients sometimes receive from multiple specialists. In addition, Dr. Beckmann performs a number of common office procedures including joint injections and removal of uncomplicated skin lesions.
Having been born and raised in north St. Louis County, Dr. Beckmann and his wife, Leissa, are returning to the St. Louis area to be closer to family.
Dr. Beckmann is welcoming new patients and accepts most insurance plans. Like all SSM Medical Group providers, Dr. Beckmann offers MyChart to his patients.
