WHAT: One lucky SSM St. Joseph Health Center leader will get a pie in the face to benefit the fight to end cancer. During the past three weeks, employees have been dropping $1 bills in a hat for the leader they’d like to see get creamed in front of hospital employees, staff and physicians, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 13. Proceeds will benefit American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Central St. Charles.

Nine leaders, including hospital President Gaspare Calvaruso; Dr. James Hinrichs, chief medical officer; and Dr. James Beattie, medical oncologist, SSM Cancer Care; have put themselves in the running for the cause. Currently, Dr. John Root, radiology chief of staff,  is winning the contest with more than $200 in votes alone, but it’s anyone’s game!

SSM St. Joseph Health Center employees have until 5 p.m. today to cast their votes. The pie tosser will be determined from a drawing of names of those who contributed to the winning leader.

Several employees will participate in the Relay for Life of Central St. Charles from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. July 15 and 16 at Lutheran High School of St. Charles County in St. Peters.
