Topics for SSM St. Mary’s Health Center’s monthly Diabetes Support Group

WHAT: Recent reports indicate the number of adults living with diabetes doubled to nearly 350 million people worldwide since 1980. Diabetes is a growing healthcare issue impacting quality of life and burdening the cost of health care. People living with diabetes are at greater risk for health care problems, such as heart disease, stroke, blindness, and kidney damage.
To better support those living with diabetes, SSM St. Mary’s Health Center provides free, monthly, open-to-the-public Diabetes Support Group sessions facilitated by our Certified Diabetes Educators.
Despite advancements in treatment, education remains the foundation of diabetes management. With no cure for diabetes, control is the key to preventing complications. SSM St. Mary’s support groups address health management issues associated with diabetes. Below is a schedule of topics and speakers for the Diabetes Support Group meetings through December 2011.
