LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO – SSM Medical Group is pleased to announce the addition of 
Syed H. Tariq, MD, FACP to the Medical Group’s office at Lake Saint Louis. Dr. Tariq joins Dr. Joseph F. Rodemann in the practice of gastroenterology.
From digesting food in the stomach to addressing the liver’s role in removing waste from the body, gastroenterologists help patients who have colon polyps or cancer, hepatitis, chronic heartburn, peptic ulcers, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, and other problems.
Dr. Tariq recently completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Tariq was an associate professor of internal medicine in the geriatric division of medicine at Saint Louis University. During his seven-year tenure at Saint Louis University, Dr. Tariq was also a medical director for National Health Care, was a staff physician at Des Peres Hospital, and an attending physician at Grand Manor Nursing Home in St. Louis. Dr. Tariq has also worked as a physician at Jefferson Barracks Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in St. Louis and was medical director of the nursing home there.
Dr. Tariq attended medical school at King Edward’s College in Pakistan and then worked as a research associate at the Hektoen Institute and the Rush Cancer Institute, both in Chicago. He then interned at Saint Louis University, where he also did his internal medicine residency and geriatric fellowship.
Dr. Tariq is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Tariq has won many honors and awards and is well published.
