RICHMOND HEIGHTS, MO – SSM St. Mary’s Health Center is happy to announce the addition of two new key physicians to the medical staff.
Raana Ponstingl, MD, was named SSM St. Mary’s medical director of case management. Dr. Ponstingl brings more than 20 years of emergency and acute-care experience to SSM St. Mary’s, where she worked in the ED and completed her residency in the early 1980’s. Dr. Ponstingl has since worked many roles in various St. Louis emergency departments, including Senior Medical Director of St. Anthony’s Medical Center and Medical Director of Des Peres Hospital. In her most recent role, she also oversaw a Chest Pain Center, a Primary Stroke Center, and Employee Health and Emergency Services. Postingl is also certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Bruce Brown, MD, will be joining the SSM Medical Group’s surgery department on July 26, 2010. As an experienced, board-certified surgeon, Dr. Brown joins SSM from Columbia, Mo., where he has practiced since 1999 and served as Chief of Surgery at Columbia Regional Hospital since 2005. Dr. Brown received his undergraduate degree and medical degree from University of Missouri – Kansas City. He completed his residency at University of Missouri – Columbia. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and takes special interest in hernia and gallbladder operations. His additional interests include surgical oncology, post-operative care and medical ethics.
