An SSM Health Care – St. Louis honoree is among the 2011 St. Louis Business Journal class of “30 Under 30” honorees.
Chris Wintrode, Esq., MHA, team leader for contract management, was honored with his 29 class colleagues July 21. The annual award honors young professionals recognized for moving through the business world at full throttle, impacting their workplace and the St. Louis community.
A graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law and Public Health, Wintrode is a native of Chugiak, Alaska. He began his career at SSM Health Care – St. Louis in 2008, as an intern to SSMSTL President/CEO Jim Sanger.
With SSMSTL’s recent restructuring, contract managers at individual entities were brought together to form a consolidated department to achieve greater efficiencies. Wintrode was named team leader for the department in August 2010.
During this time, Wintrode led an initiative that significantly reduced the network’s percentage of expired contracts from 41 to 7 percent. Keeping contracts current keeps operations efficient, reduces costs and increases customer satisfaction.
In addition to their professional work, the 30 Under 30 class is also recognized for their commitment to community service. An accomplished violinist who was president of his undergraduate college orchestra, Wintrode became a volunteer for the St. Louis Symphony and has since been named to its community advisory board.
“I’ve been given great opportunities here, and I believe in what we stand for,” says Wintrode. “We have a vision and values we are striving to stand by. While I don’t have direct patient contact, I know that what I am doing is making a difference by making us more efficient to better serve our physicians and our patients.”
