 Neurologists join SSM Neurosciences Institute at DePaul Health Center

ST. LOUIS – Neurologists Robert Margolis, MD, and Daniel Mattson, MD, have joined SSM Neurosciences Institute at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, Mo. Both physicians were previously in private practice in St. Louis County.

Dr. Margolis has been named director of Neurology at SSM DePaul Health Center and co-director of Neurology for SSM Neurosciences Institute, which includes the neurological care at all five adult SSM Health Care – St. Louis hospitals. He is board certified in internal medicine, neurology and vascular neurology.

Dr. Margolis has been in practice in the St. Louis area since 1980 and has served on numerous boards and committees in both leadership and advisory roles. He graduated cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He completed his neurology training at the University of Rochester Medical Center, New York, where he also served as chief resident.

Dr. Mattson is the new director of Epilepsy Services for SSM Neurosciences Institute. He is overseeing the development of a comprehensive epilepsy center at SSM DePaul Health Center and directs the hospital’s neurophysiology lab. He has been in practice in the area since 2005 and is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology.

Dr. Mattson earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine training at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis. He completed his neurology residency at Harvard Medical School at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and The Children’s Hospital in Boston, where he served as clinical chief resident. Dr. Mattson completed his fellowship in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Drs. Margolis and Mattson provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services to address diseases that affect the brain and nervous system, including stroke, aneurysms, multiple sclerosis, peripheral nerve disorders, movement disorders, dementia, epilepsy and seizure disorders, and headaches.
