ST. LOUIS – Neurologists Sherif AL-Hawarey, MD, and Bingzhong Chen, MD, PhD, have joined SSM Neurosciences Institute at St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights, Mo.
Dr. Chen is board certified in neurology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Chen received his medical degree from Fujian Medical University in China and his PhD in neurosciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
He completed a residency in neurology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and fellowship training in electrodiagnostic medicine at Saint Louis University. He previously served as an assistant professor at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Dr. AL-Hawarey is board certified in neurology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. He received his medical degree and completed his internship in neurology at Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt. He fulfilled his residency requirements at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. He completed his fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology at Saint Louis University.
Before beginning his fellowship training, Dr. AL-Hawarey served as the neurology and stroke medical director for two years at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Illinois. He has published articles and conducted research projects on the topics of stroke and nervous system diseases.
Drs. AL-Hawarey and Chen provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services to address diseases that affect the brain and nervous system, including stroke, aneurysms, multiple sclerosis, peripheral nerve disorders, movement disorders, dementia, epilepsy and seizure disorders, and headaches.
