ST. LOUIS, MO – SSM DePaul Health Center President Pat Komoroski has been appointed to the Missouri Board of Respiratory Care by Gov. Jay Nixon. The governor has appointed her to a term ending April 3, 2012.
The Board for Respiratory Care is responsible for developing, implementing and administering the rules and regulations necessary to carry out the Respiratory Care Practice Act. These regulations include establishing the requirements for licensure, continuing education, as well as the ethical standards of practice for respiratory care practitioners. The Board also is responsible for investigating complaints related to the practice of respiratory care.
“I’m extremely honored to be chosen for this role,” Komoroski says. “I will do my best to ensure that all Missourians receive the highest quality of respiratory care.”
Komoroski’s background includes broad experience in hospital operations and health care administration. During her tenure, SSM DePaul won the prestigious 2009 Premier Award for Quality, earned Joint Commission certification as a Primary Stroke Center and became the only hospital in Missouri to receive the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal for Quality in knee and hip joint replacement. Komoroski is also responsible for the growth and development of SSM Behavioral Health Services and SSM Senior Services. Both are strategic service line focuses for SSM Health Care-St. Louis.
Before coming to SSM DePaul Health Center in 2008, she served three years as President of SSM St. Joseph Hospital West, in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. She also served as that hospital’s Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer from 2000 to 2005. During her tenure, St. Joseph Hospital West achieved recognition for excellence in clinical practice, operations and financial management as a Top 100 Hospital in America™ By Solucient in both 2000 and 2003. Prior to working for SSM Health Care, she was the Assistant Administrator, Patient Care Services at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.
Komoroski received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Science in Nursing Administration, both from Saint Louis University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lindenwood College and nursing degree from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing.
She is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Health Care Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executive and St. Louis Metropolitan Organization of Healthcare Executives. Komoroski is a board member for North County Incorporated, the Rotary Club of Florissant and the Sarah Community. She is a member of the Soroptimists of North St. Louis County and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce. She is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Wentzville.
