FENTON, MO – Yvonne Smith, R.N., B.S.N., is the new director of women and infant services at SSM St. Clare Health Center. She oversees the hospital’s maternity division, The Family Birthplace.
Smith received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Maryville University and is on track to complete a master’s degree in nursing, with an emphasis on education, from Maryville University in summer of 2011. She previously worked as a clinical process leader for clinical workflow improvement at BJC HealthCare in St. Louis.
Smith has more than 20 years of nursing and leadership experience, and has worked in a wide range of care areas, including women and infants, peri-operative services, case management, professional practice development, regulatory compliance and quality. She has earned a Yellow Belt Certification in Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
“Yvonne is passionate about patient safety, quality, and engaging frontline staff in process improvement,” said Mary Brobst, Executive Director of Nursing. “She shares our mission of delivering exceptional care to patients, and we are very excited to welcome her to the staff.”
Smith is a resident of the Lafayette Square neighborhood in St. Louis.
