ST. LOUIS, MO – The SSM Heart Institute is presenting a unique opportunity for those with heart valve disease or disorders to discuss treatment over dinner with one of the region’s leading heart specialists.
David Theodoro, MD, a nationally renowned cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive heart valve surgery, will speak and answer questions during dinner presentations held in two St. Louis locations in September. These opportunities will be of special interest if you or family members have been diagnosed with heart valve disease. Presentations are scheduled as follows:
• Tuesday, Sept. 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Holiday Inn Southwest & Viking Conference Center – St. Louis
• Wednesday, Sept. 22, 6:30-8 p.m.
Sheraton Westport Lakeside Chalet Hotel – St. Louis
A complimentary heart-healthy dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by Dr. Theodoro’s discussion.
“Failing valves will eventually cause your heart to fail or complicate your health in other life-threatening ways,” says Dr. Theodoro, a national trainer in the minimally invasive technique that uses a tiny incision for major heart valve repair. He is also one of the few heart surgeons in the Midwest to use the da Vinic robotic surgery system to perform mitral valve repairs through the smallest possible incision. Traditional valve surgery requires splitting the breastbone to access the heart – a much more invasive approach that requires a lengthy recovery.
“If you have been diagnosed with heart valve disease, you need to know the risks you face and all of your treatment options,” Dr. Theodoro says. “Even patients being treated with medications may need their faulty heart valve repaired or replaced to avoid serious long-term complications.”
Seating is limited and registration is required for these special dinner presentations. Call 1-866-SSM-DOCS (1-866-776-3627) to register or learn more at ssmhealth.com/heart.
