SSM lifts hospital visitor restrictions

Decemeber 8, 2009

Due to the low level of H1N1 in the community and in our hospitals, the SSM Health Care -  St. Louis Flu Steering Team has lifted the visitor restriction guidelines at this time in all of our hospitals.  What does this mean for each hospital:

  • Visitors age 18 and under are able to once again visit patients
  • Pregnant women are no longer discouraged from visiting patients
  • Strict screening of visitors is no longer required

Current Visiting Policy:

  • Ill visitors are discouraged from visiting throughout the cold and flu season
  • If an ill visitor must visit, they should wear a standard isolation mask
  • On all high risk floors (OB, ICU's, Hem/Onc ,etc) active screening  of ill visitors should continue.

We will continue to monitor the flu activity in the community and in our hospitals.  If we notice a surge in flu cases in the area,  we may reinstate the restricting guidelines.
