ST. LOUIS – Elyra D. Figueroa, MD, board certified in pediatrics and fellowship trained in allergy and immunology, joins SSM Medical Group in Sunset Hills.
Dr. Figueroa treats both pediatric and adult allergy, asthma and immunology patients. She is an expert in allergy skin testing, patch testing, lung function testing, oral food challenges, eosinophilic esophagitis testing and immunotherapy. She takes a special interest in caring for children with atopic dermatitis and food allergies.
“Allergic disease, such as food and environmental allergies, and asthma is inherited,” explains Dr. Figueroa. “As a result, I treat and care for multiple family members allowing me to build a close relationship with my patients. It is important to me to empower my families through education so they understand their specific allergic disease.”
As a native St. Louisan, Dr. Figueroa grew up in West County and graduated from Visitation Academy. She completed her fellowship training in allergy and immunology at Washington University and completed her pediatric residency at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in conjunction with Saint Louis University. She earned her medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines. Dr. Figueroa is a member of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy & Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
