Accountable Care Organization (ACO)

SSM Health chose to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings program in St. Louis as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) in 2014 and continues to participate today. On January 1, 2020, SSM Health expanded its participation in the Medicare Shared Savings program in Southern Illinois by launching its second ACO. On January 1, 2022, SSM Health expanded its participation in the Medicare Shared Savings program in Wisconsin by launching its third ACO. By participating as an ACO, it means that SSM Health providers are working together, with original Medicare, to provide you better service and care.

For all three ACOs, SSM Health uses advanced systems that let us more carefully track your care. The goal of the ACO is to support your doctor in caring for you. ACOs help your primary care provider and all others work together more closely, making sure they have the most up-to-date information about your health and your care.
