SSM DePaul Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program
SSM DePaul Health Center sponsors a 36-month (PM&S-36) accredited Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program. The hospital provides educational experiences for the podiatric resident in the form of supervised didactic and clinical settings, including semi-weekly clinical conferences, journal club and/or lecture series. In 2008, the program’s growth has enabled the program to increase from two to three residents for each year, for a total of nine residents for the entire program.
Scheduled specialty rotations provide residents with multi-disciplinary exposure to quality patient care. Residents rotate through DePaul’s Level II Trauma Center which receives about 50,000 patients a year, including 6,000 pediatric patients.

Residents learn exceptional conservative and surgical podiatric foot and ankle skills, as well as the latest management in wound care. The program’s affiliations with numerous local surgery centers help to provide ample opportunity for surgical growth. Currently there are approximately 50 attending physicians that work with residents.
SSM DePaul is a learning experience, not only for the residents, but for the community of professionals whose work alongside the residents.
