The Premier healthcare alliance developed QUEST: High Performing Hospitals, a dynamic program to help hospitals and healthcare systems attain new performance levels. Building on the success of the Premier/CMS Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration, the QUEST progrma seeks to delveop next-generations quality,s afety and cot metrics with a consistency and standardization that does not exist today. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement is provideing technical assistance and improvement expertise.
2009 Medal of Honor for Organ Donation
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is focusing efforts on reducing the gap between potential organ donors and needy recipients. The principle aim of this effort is to encourage hospitals to achieve and maintain organ donor conversion rates exceeding 75% or higher of eligible donors. HRSA sponsors an Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative.
ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence®
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence® (BSCOE) program, endorsed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other health insurers, is a rigorous evaluation process to identify facilities and surgeons that have a comprehensive program and meet established program requirements for providing safe bariatric surgical care. Applicants undergo a site inspection which not only documents process, i.e., equipment, supplies, training of surgeons and staff and the availability of consultant services — but emphasizes results.
2007 Premier/Care Science National Quality Leader Award
The Select Practice National Quality Award recognizes the top 1 percent of the more than 4,700 acute care inpatient facilities in the United States eligible to receive the award. Winners did not apply for the award, but instead were identified as a top performer in quality and efficiency among all acute care facilities in the MEDPAR 2005 data, regardless of bed size or teaching status.
