Make a difference in the life of a young camper

April 29, 2024 12:09 PM - SSM Health at Home is looking for volunteers to help out at a free, one-day camp on Saturday, June 8 in Baraboo for grieving kids and the grown-ups who support them. Staffed by Health at Home spiritual and grief counselors, the day camp gives youngsters a chance to share their grief at the loss of a loved one with other youngsters in a safe and supportive environment.

Volunteers are needed to serve as buddies for the young campers as they enjoy food, crafts and fun at Camp GLOW (Giving Loved Ones Wings). Volunteers also can help out with set-up, take-down, registration and food preparation and serving. In addition to the gratitude for helping children share stories about their loved ones, all volunteers will receive a light breakfast, catered lunch and a Camp GLOW tee-shirt.

Anyone interested in volunteering, is required to sign up by Friday, May 17. There is a simple, one-hour online training session for volunteers that can be done from home. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, please contact volunteer coordinator Sondra.Robinson@ssmhealth.com or call her at 608-698-7482.

The day camp will be held at Ochsner Park, 903 Park Street, in Baraboo on Saturday, June 8, 2024. If you know a child who might benefit from attending Camp GLOW, visit ssmhealth.com/CampGLOW for more information or to register. The registration deadline for campers is June 1, 2024.
