Strategically located next to the Emergency Room at most SSM hospital sites, the primary goal of the Chest Pain Center is to significantly reduce the time it takes to see a physician if you are experiencing possible heart-attack symptoms.
At the Chest Pain Center, we don’t take chances, we take action. Studies indicate that the sooner individuals who have a heart attack are treated, the better their chance of survival and the less permanent damage is done to their heart. Patients experiencing chest pain will be evaluated within 30 seconds of their arrival and treatment will begin within 30 minutes of their arrival. In addition, the SSM Heart Institute consistently provides angioplasties for heart attack patients in less than 90 minutes of arrival to the hospital – the nationally recognized standard of care.
