In early 2009, SSM St. Joseph Hospital West was recognized as one of the top 42 hospitals in the nation for electronic medical record implementation by Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). HIMSS Analytics reported that out of more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals, St. Joseph Hospital West was one of only 42 that had reached Stage six of the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model.

The MQA is recognized as one of the strongest state-level quality award programs in the country, and is the official state recognition for excellence in quality leadership. SSM St. Joseph facilities were chosen for the award based on outstanding clinical outcomes, as well as satisfaction of patients, staff and physicians.

Congress established the MBNQA in 1987 to recognize U.S. organizations for their achievements in quality and business performance and to raise awareness about the importance of quality and performance excellence as a competitive edge.
