In spite of all we do, there are more than 46 million Americans who have no health care insurance and many millions more that do not have adequate insurance. SSM Health Care spent more than we ever have in our 135-year history to care for people without insurance. In 2006, St. Joseph Hospital West proudly committed over $3 million back to our community through charity care, donations and employee volunteer efforts.
