A neurologist specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders of the nervous system, including diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles (such as strokes, epilepsy, headaches, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, and various forms of pain). Below you'll find a list of SSM Neurosciences Institute's Neurologists. Roula Al-Dahhak, MD, is board-certified in three areas of neurology. After completing her residency in neurology at Ohio State University, she then completed two additional fellowship training programs in clinical neurophysiology and neuromuscular medicine/EMG at the same time. She specializes in EMG (electromyogram) testing and nerve conduction testing. Dr. Al-Dahhak treats patients with peripheral and central neurological disorders such as peripheral neuropathies, myopathies, and motor neuron disorders, as well as neuromuscular junction disorders such as myashtenia gravis and other myasthenic syndromes. She also treats patients with headache and movement disorders, and is board certified in using Botulinum toxin in treating dystonia and certain types of headache. Her office is located on the SSM St. Joseph Hospital West campus. 

Sherif AL-Hawarey, MD, is board-eligible in neurology and an affiliate of the American Academy of Neurology. He received his medical degree and completed an internship in neurology at Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt. He fulfilled his residency requirements at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. He completed his fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology at Saint Louis University. Dr. AL-Hawarey takes a special interest in treating patients with epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, multiple sclerosis and movement disorders. He is trained to perform multiple procedures, including medical Botox. His office is located on the SSM St. Mary’s Health Center campus.

R. Charles Callison Jr., MD, is a neuro-interventionist with SSM Neurosciences Institute at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton. He is board certified in neurology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and completed a residency in neurology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. In addition, he completed a cerebrovascular fellowship at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Dr. Callison also serves as assistant professor at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He specializes in the treatment of stroke, brain aneurysms, blood vessel malformations of the head (AVMs), narrowing of the brain or neck arteries, and other conditions.

Bingzhong Chen, MD, is board certified in neurology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Chen received his medical degree from Fujian Medical

University in China and his PhD in neurosciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed his residency in neurology at Southern Illinois University and his fellowship training in electrodiagnostic medicine at Saint Louis University. He has also served as an assistant professor at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Dr. Chen sees patients with various neurological diseases. He has special interest in neurophysiology, neuromuscular disorders, migraine headaches, Botox injections, and movement disorders. His office is located on the SSM St. Mary’s Health Center campus.

Randall Edgell, MD, is a neuro-interventionist with the SSM Neurosciences Institute at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton. He is board-certified in neurology. He earned a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency at the New York University School of Medicine, with fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Albany Medical Center Hospital. He also serves as an assistant professor of surgery and neurology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. His special interests include carotid stenosis, intracranial stenosis, acute stroke, cerebral aneurysm and brain arteriovenous malformations. 

Laurence Kinsella, MD, is board certified in internal medicine, neurology, neuromuscular medicine, electromyography and autonomic disorders. He is a Fellow of the Amercian Academy of Neurology. He is a native St. Louisan who completed an internal medicine residency at St. John's Mercy in St. Louis, a neurology residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a neuromuscular/EMG fellowship at Columbia University in New York. He is co-director of neurology for SSM Neurosciences Institute and director of clinical neurophysiology for the Saint Louis University School of Medicine department of neurology. Dr. Kinsella has special interest in neuromuscular disorders, EMG and autonomic disorders. His office is located on the SSM St. Clare Health Center campus.

Jaqueline Kraus, MD, is board certified in neurology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Kraus received her PhD in anatomy and cell biology from the University of Iowa, where she also received her medical degree and fulfilled her neurology residency. She completed her fellowship in neurocritical care and neurotrauma at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Michigan, with additional training in anesthesia critical care at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. In 2003, Dr. Kraus joined the neurology department at Wayne State University where she served as a neurocritical care attending. She then went on to complete an endovascular surgical neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Kraus takes a special interest in treating patients with neuroendovascular diseases such as stroke, brain aneurysms, brain and facial arteriovenous malformation (AVMs), and headaches (acute and chronic). Her office is located on the SSM St. Mary’s Health Center campus.

Robert Margolis, MD, is board certified in internal medicine, neurology and vascular neurology. He has been in practice in the St. Louis area since 1980 and has served on numerous boards and committees in both leadership and advisory roles. He graduated cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He completed his neurology training at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Margolis is the co-director of neurology for SSM Neurosciences Institute. He provides an integrated, multi-specialty approach to diseases that affect the brain and nervous system. His office is located on the SSM DePaul Health Center campus.

Daniel Mattson, MD, is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine training at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center. He completed his neurology residency at Harvard Medical School at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and The Children’s Hospital in Boston, where he served as clinical chief resident. Dr. Mattson completed his fellowship in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Mattson is the director of epilepsy services for SSM Neurosciences Institute.  His office is located on the SSM DePaul Health Center campus.

Rosalyn Miles, MD, received her medical training at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and completed her residency in neurology at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Miles continued with her fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health and Georgetown University. In 2007, Dr. Miles completed a fellowship focused primarily on epilepsy at Saint Louis University. She has special interest in epilepsy and electroencephalography (EEG).  Her office is located on the SSM St. Clare Health Center campus.

Nirav Vora, MD, is a neuro-interventionist who is board-certified in stroke care. He serves as the medical director of the stroke program at the SSM Neurosciences Institute at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton. Dr. Vora earned a medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine and is an assistant professor of neurology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in neurology at the Cleveland Clinic and was awarded the Egas Moniz Fellowship for Interventional Neurology by the American Society of Neuroimaging.
