ST. LOUIS - (April 6, 2012) – St. Louis Cardinals Matt Holliday and David Freese recently announced that they are teaming up for the kids at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center with a new, fan-engaging pledge program called “Homers for Health.”
“This is an opportunity to make every home run hit this year by the Cardinals matter in the lives of kids,” said Matt Holliday at a press conference at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla. “David and I know how amazing our fans are. This is a great way for all of us to celebrate home runs together and rally to help the kids at SSM Cardinal Glennon.”
Holliday and Freese encouraged fans to make a pledge in 25-cent increments for every home run the Cardinals hit in 2012. All donors who make a pledge will receive a Rally Tally Scorecard and a Homers for Health window cling. Any pledge over 50 cents will also receive a commemorative photo from Holliday and Freese thanking them for their support.
“We know thousands of fans will step up to the plate with us and make a pledge. Together, we’re going to help a lot of kids get back in the game,” Freese said.
“Matt and David are incredible ambassadors for Cardinal Glennon and we’ve been amazed by all the wonderful corporate and community support that has rallied behind them,” said Dan Buck, executive director of the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation.
Homers for Health is a community-wide initiative throughout the St. Louis region, with activities planned during the month of April at dozens of schools, companies and among SSM Health Care employees.
“We’d love to see a bunch of schools and local companies all doing something fun and meaningful on April 13, our home opener day, to support the Homers for Health program,” Holliday said.
Homers for Health is presented by Centene Charitable Foundation and powered by Peabody. Pledge forms are available at all Dierbergs locations. Cardinals fans can also make their Homers for Health pledge online at www.glennon.org.
