SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is recipient of the Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines (GWTG) program.
GWTG is an in-hospital program steered at improving stroke care and recognizing hospitals for their commitment to the newest treatments. The Gold Plus Achievement is an acknowledgment of SLU Hospital’s 24/7 compliance with Quality Measures.
To help improve stroke outcomes throughout the region, SLU Hospital founded in 2008 the MidAmerica Stroke Network. Currently it is a group of almost 70 hospitals throughout Missouri and Illinois with SLU Hospital being the “hub,” providing education, outreach and the latest stroke therapies.
“The Gold Plus Award is representative of the Saint Louis University Hospital’s commitment,” said Jeff Wright, PT, manager of Mid America Stroke Network. “The partnership between the MidAmerica Stroke Network helps to make a difference in this region and beyond.”
The recognition comes on the heels of SLU Hospital’s recent recertification as one of ten Level 1 Time Critical Diagnosis Stroke Centers in Missouri, as well as receiving AHA recognition with the Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award, the Heart Failure Gold Plus Achievement Award, the Heart Attack Receiving Silver Achievement Award, and the Elite Plus Stroke Honor Roll Achievement Award.
