Patrice (Pat) Komoroski, PhD
President

As president of SSM DePaul Health Center, Pat Komoroski oversees the mission, vision and strategic focus for a fast-growing 478-bed acute care hospital located in Bridgeton, Missouri. During her tenure, SSM DePaul won the prestigious 2009 Premier Award for Quality, earned Joint Commission certification as a Primary Stroke Center and became the only hospital in Missouri to receive the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal for Quality in knee and hip joint replacement. Komoroski is also responsible for the growth and development of SSM Behavioral Health Services and SSM Senior Services.
Komoroski’s background includes broad experience in hospital operations and health care administration. Before coming to DePaul in 2008, she served three years as president of SSM St. Joseph Hospital West, in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. She also served as that hospital’s executive vice president/chief operating officer from 2000 to 2005. During her tenure, St. Joseph Hospital West achieved recognition for excellence in clinical practice, operations and financial management as a Top 100 Hospital in America™ By Solucient in both 2000 and 2003. Prior to working for SSM Health Care, she was the assistant administrator, Patient Care Services at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.
Komoroski holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Science in Nursing Administration, both from Saint Louis University. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lindenwood College and nursing degree from Jewish Hospital School of Nursing.
She is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Health Care Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executive and St. Louis Metropolitan Organization of Healthcare Executives. Komoroski is a board member for North County Incorporated, the Rotary Club of Florissant and the Sarah Community. She is a member of the Soroptimists of North St. Louis County and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce. She is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Wentzville
Pat resides in St. Charles, Missouri with her husband Clem. She has three children and three granddaughters.
Kathleen Bonser, MS, RN
Executive Director of Nursing
SSM DePaul Health Center
As executive director of Nursing, Kathy Bonser, MS, RN, overseas patient care at a 478-bed acute care hospital. During her 28-year tenure, SSM DePaul Health Center has earned a number of accolades for clinical excellence, including the 2006 Missouri Quality Award, 2007 Premier / Care Science Award and the 2009 Premier Award for Quality.
Bonser’s background includes broad experience in direct patient care, nursing operations and health care administration. She has been a champion for higher education in nursing, continual process improvement and for building strong physician/nursing relationships that improve patient care.
Bonser completed her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree at Southeast Missouri State University and her Master of Science in Health Care Management at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. She resides in St. Charles with her husband, David. They have a son John and a daughter Emily.
Andrew Karanas, MD
Vice President of Medical Affairs
SSM DePaul Health Center
As Vice President of Medical Affairs at SSM DePaul Health Center, Andrew Karanas, MD, oversees a medical staff of more than 700 physicians. He is also a practicing surgeon and the medical director of our Trauma Program.
Dr. Karanas did his undergraduate studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and assisted with biomedical research before attending medical school at Columbia University’s College of Physicians. He completed a General Surgery residency at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.
Dr. Karanas resides in Chesterfield with his wife, 11-year-old son and a “high maintenance” dog.
