SSM Heart Institute at DePaul

The SSM Heart Institute at DePaul Health Center provides a minimally invasive cardiac surgery approach to treat a range of heart conditions, including aortic and mitral valve disease, some forms of arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, and congestive heart failure. This “keyhole” approach, pioneered locally by SSM DePaul cardiac surgeon David Theodoro, M.D., significantly reduces complications, pain, scarring and recovery time associated with cardiac surgery. With a dedicated support team of surgical assistants, clinical nurse specialists and perfusionists, SSM Heart Institute at DePaul adheres to “gold standard” American College of Cardiology and Society of Thoracic Surgery guidelines.
