St. Clare Health Center is the culmination of four years of planning in which employees, doctors, patient advocates and architects worked together to create an exceptional healing environment. Their challenge was to move the bar higher, not just for the SSM Health Care system, but for the entire industry.
In building the hospital, SSM Health Care-St. Louis collaborated with the Center for Health Design’s Pebble Project research program -- a unique, national partnership of hospitals and health care systems dedicated to facility design that makes a difference in the quality of care.
Pebble Project partners have seen reduced staff turnover rates, increases in patient satisfaction, reduced patient falls, fewer infections, decreases in patient transfers and more.
A Hospital Like No Other
As the first full-service hospital built in St. Louis County in 35 years, St. Clare Health Center offers the very best ideas in evidence-based health care design. Studies have proven a better-designed environment makes a measurable difference in your recovery. We’ve used innovative thinking and design to make patient care safer, less frustrating, and give you more control.
You’ll realize the difference as soon as you drive onto our campus. We’ve grouped our services and created separate entrances, so whether you’re visiting a patient, getting an x-ray, having outpatient surgery or seeing your doctor, you’ll be able quickly find what you need. The difference is palpable as soon as you step into the facility. You’ll find a quiet, restful environment and be greeted by our helpful Concierge staff upon your arrival. More convenience means less stress on mind and body.
You’ll appreciate our simple registration at the point of care. At St. Clare, we’ve eliminated large, crowded Admitting and Central Registration areas. Simply walk to your destination and register right there. We know your time is valuable, so wherever possible, we’ve streamlined processes to make your experience more efficient.
We have separate diagnostic equipment serving inpatient, emergency and outpatient departments to minimize wait times. And we offer some of the most advanced equipment available today, such as a 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner, the most powerful MRI scanner for clinical use, and a Biplane Angiography Suite, which provides greatly enhanced 3D visualization of the brain for breakthrough treatments in stroke and aneurysm.
In the event you need to be admitted, you’ll have a large, private room. Your nurse will be stationed directly outside your door, not down the hallway, as we’ve eliminated centralized nurses’ stations. Each patient’s medications are stored in his or her room. This means less wait time for you and keeps your medications separate from other patients’ medications. We’ve even moved our supply pods containing patient gowns, linens and other medical necessities closer to patients. All of this means your caregiver can spend more time focusing on you.
Wood-grain cabinets conceal medical equipment from view, making our patient rooms feel more like home, and we’ve added amenities such as in-room safes, flat screen TVs, wireless Internet and refrigerators. We’re doing away with needless sleep interruptions, and we’ve created a quieter, more soothing environment by installing sound buffers between rooms. Countless safety items have been added into the room, such as handrails from the bed to the bathroom and slip-resistant flooring.
We realize you want your family close by. Each private patient room has a family zone, with a pull-out sofa bed so a family member can spend the night. Patients can even order food forfamily members, along with themselves. For your comfort, you’ll also be able to adjust the temperature in your room.
Inside your suite, you’ll find floor-to-ceiling windows to let in sunlight, a soothing color palette and artwork inspired by nature. Our beautiful grounds, complete with a walking trail, outdoor courtyards and water features, provide a place for patients to heal, not an institution to treat you.
