Gaspare Calvaruso

SSM St. Joseph Health Center
In March 2008, Gaspare Calvaruso became President of SSM St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, SSM St. Joseph Medical Park in St. Peters, and SSM St. Joseph Health Center-Wentzville. The facilities are members of SSM Health Care, one of the largest Catholic healthcare systems in the country. The system owns, manages and is affiliated with 20 acute care hospitals and three nursing homes in four states.
Mr. Calvaruso previously spent 13 years with SSM, largely specializing in physician relations and managed care administration. He served as Director of Managed Care and Executive Director of the Physician Hospital Organization at SSM’s St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City, MO, and then as Vice President of Ambulatory Network Development at the System’s St. Mary’s Good Samaritan, Inc., in Centralia and Mt. Vernon, IL. Mr. Calvaruso’s expertise also includes physician practice management, contract negotiations, marketing, sales and strategic planning.
Prior to re-joining SSM, Mr. Calvaruso served as Vice President of Medical Staff Services at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL, part of Memorial Group, Inc. He was responsible for practice support services, physician recruitment and retention and marketing.
Mr. Calvaruso received a master’s degree in business administration from William Woods University in Fulton, MO, a bachelor’s degree in history and bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Medical Group Management Association.
