SSM St. Joseph Health Center received a three-year accreditation in 2009 as a Chest Pain Center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, and is recognized as a Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) capabilities. It is the only hospital in St. Charles County – and one of only three in the St. Louis region – to pass accreditation standards with this added distinction.
The American Heart Association recommends a guideline of taking 90-minutes or less to insert a balloon into the heart, but SSM St. Joseph Health Center continually strives for much better. Your new St. Joseph Health Center’s average is approximately 60-minutes from when a patient arrives in an operating room.
Additionally, the American Heart Association recommends a 10-minute guideline for applying an EKG monitor to a patient. Your new St. Joseph Health Center has a five-minute average.
It is extremely important that all facilities and departments involved work together to make the these procedures go smoothly and quickly. Every second counts for our patients. We want to not only save lives, but save the quality of lives as well.
