A “hospital within a hospital” to care for the most critical and complex medical and surgical conditions is now at SSM St. Joseph Health Center. The 33-bed Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) is in a newly renovated area of the hospital’s first floor.
The LTACH is operated by Select Specialty Hospital and offers a variety of programs and services to match each patient’s acuity and individual needs. The company’s hospitals are state licensed, Medicare-certified and staffed with experienced healthcare professionals. The area houses a therapy room for rehabilitation and offers 21 private and six semi-private beds.
Core programs offered in this facility include pulmonary/vent weaning, medical complexity, wound, renal, neuro/traumatic brain injury/trauma, infectious disease and cardiac care. Services depend on the complexity of the illness of each individual, but can include:
