SSM St. Joseph Health Center is recognized as a top performing hospital in Premier’s QUEST collaborative. QUEST, which stands for QUality, Efficiency, Safety and Transparency, is a voluntary, three-year project designed to improve hospital performance. Participating hospitals learn skills to become industry leaders in quality.
Awards are presented to hospitals for achieving improvement in patient quality and safety (in the areas of heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia and reducing surgical complications), reducing mortality rates and reducing costs for patients.
QUEST is includes 157 participants across 31 states, including urban/rural, large/small and teaching/non-teaching facilities. In the first year of the project, participating hospitals saved an estimated total of 8,043 lives and $577 million. Your new St. Joseph Health Center was one out of thirty-two hospitals recognized as top performing hospitals in 2009.
