BOOST Program

SSM St. Mary’s is among a select group of hospitals across the nation – and the only in Missouri chosen to implement Project BOOST (Better Outcomes for Older adults through Safe Transitions). This Society of Hospital Medicine initiative prevents costly re-hospitalizations of elderly patients. Staff members identify possible roadblocks to recovery, such as too many prescriptions or a lack of understanding. Instead, issues are addressed early to prevent patient readmission to the hospital and unnecessary complications.

Initiated by Dr. Philip Vaidyan in 2009, the BOOST program is reducing patient readmissions while increasing patient satisfaction.
