World-class procedures by world-class surgeons. Drs. Roger de la Torre and J. Stephen Scott, along with world-renowned surgeon and inventor Dr. Thomas J. Fogarty, developed the first endoscopic gastric bypass procedure. The procedure, called transoral gastroplasty (TOGA), involves the use of flexible instruments inserted into the stomach through the mouth. Unlike other bariatric procedures, the TOGA does not require any incisions. The procedure is currently in U.S. Food and Drug Administration trials, with the first U.S. study having occurred in St. Louis July 2008.
