PACTS for Life

PACTS (Pediatric Advanced Cardiorespiratory and Trauma Support) for Life was created by Anthony Scalzo, MD, in conjunction with staff at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

PALS

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is the result of a collaboration between the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

American Heart Association PALS Guidelines Update

Because cardiovascular and respiratory care is a dynamic science, guidelines are periodically changed to reflect the most recent studies. The present PALS course textbooks are in the process of being updated with the new AHA guidelines. However, the PACTS/PALS courses cover these new recommendations now. Course Information

Course Objectives

The course is designed to provide caregivers with skills which will enable them to both recognize the potential for respiratory and/or cardiac arrest in infants and children, and intervene in an appropriate manner by providing a systemic approach to these patients.

Course Audience

The course is offered to pediatricians, house staff, emergency physicians, family physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other health care providers who are responsible for the wellbeing of infants and children.

Faculty

Our course is taught by outstanding faculty who are not only experienced PACTS/PALS instructors, but most also practice full-time in pediatric emergency, critical care and transport settings. Our course evaluations consistently reflect their expertise and dedication.
