Preparing for the Unexpected
A Course on Emergency Childbirth
This program was developed to meet the needs of health care professionals confronted with unexpected, emergent birth, subsequent neonatal care and stabilization in a non-obstetric setting.
Emergency medical transportation professionals, ER nurses and allied health professionals, especially in a hospital without obstetrics (OB) services would all benefit from the content of this course.
Fees & Registration
The course fee is $25 per person. Lunch is provided to all registered attendees. While registration is non-refundable, substitutions are allowed.

Continuing Education Credits
SSM Health is an approved provider of continuing EMS education by the State of Missouri Bureau of EMS. This educational offering is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Southwestern Illinois EMS System for 6.75 hours of continuing education.
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - St. Louis are approved providers of continuing nursing education by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
