About the Program

The OB/GYN residency program is located at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Oklahoma City and is affiliated with Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The program is funded for eight positions, and currently houses eight residents. There are typically two residents chosen for any academic year. The residency program is a four year program.

During the four years of training, each resident will be exposed to a significant number of cases in both obstetrics and gynecology. Labor and delivery is covered at both SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Oklahoma City and at Integris Southwest Medical Center. Interns will always be under direct guidance by an upper level resident while covering the labor and delivery unit. Gynecologic surgeries are covered at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Oklahoma City, Integris Southwest Medical Center, and at the Surgical Hospital of Oklahoma. Over 90% of the surgical cases are performed on a one-to-one resident to attending physician basis, as well as the deliveries.

Didactic learning consists of bookclub weekly on Thursday mornings, weekly participation in ACOG Prolog questions, monthly journal clubs, and weekly grand rounds at OU Medical Center.

Joyful Beginnings Obstetrical Clinic is the residency’s OB clinic that schedules and performs prenatal visits on Wednesday morning allowing the residents to follow patients throughout their pregnancies. Office gynecology experience is obtained in several of the attending physicians private clinics throughout the week. As a resident you will also be able to participation in Birth Choice. Birth Choice is a program and free clinic that the residency program volunteers in monthly to help provide prenatal care to women who currently do not have the means to obtain prenatal care otherwise.
