Internal Medicine Residency Program - SSM Health St. Mary's - St. Louis

Physicians play a vital role in communities across the United States and around the world. A major part of their education and training comes from experience learned through their residency. SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - St. Louis is proud to offer an Internal Medicine Residency Program, which is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Our program recruits top doctors from places near and far. Upon completion of this residency, our graduates remain on staff, return after additional fellowships with other esteemed institutions, or move into leading roles in the medical community.

A Welcome Message from the Program Director:

I'm delighted you have chosen to visit our web page and invite you to look around and learn about our program.

If you accept this invitation, you will find a program that offers a structured, university-style training experience with superb, engaged faculty and enthusiastic residents in a modern, well-run, truly patient-centered, resident-friendly and university-affiliated community hospital. Our residents function as caring physicians, not technicians, receiving high quality training that is essentially free of educationally nonproductive service responsibilities in a learning environment focused on providing exceptional, safe and high quality patient care. The program, while demanding, is humane, supportive and committed to providing our residents with the broad medical knowledge, sophisticated diagnostic reasoning skills, practice improvement skills and lifetime learning skills that characterize the superb internist. As a result, our residents leave here very well prepared for their next career step - whether that's office internal medicine, hospital medicine or a subspecialty fellowship.
