On Tuesday, November 28, SSM Health St. Mary’s Foundation asks for your support for the Chapel Renovation Project to bring long-overdue updates to the Chapel at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Elizabeth “Betsy” Knight—St. Mary’s School of Nursing Class of 1960 Alumni has pledged to match gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000!
St. Mary’s current chapel dates back to the 1960s and continues to be a physical representation of our heritage – a health care ministry of the Catholic Church. The chapel allows us to minister to the sick and weary, while offering staff and visitors the spiritual support they need.
Through the chapel at St. Mary’s Hospital we have daily Mass and reserve the Eucharist for patients and visitors who want to receive communion. In addition, people are able to pray in the chapel in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. Mass is also broadcast into patient rooms – offering strength and comfort to those who cannot attend Mass in person. What a gift that is to patients and their families as they reflect on health concerns.
If you would like your gift included in the GivingTuesday celebratory program, please have your gift to the Foundation before November 28. Gifts or pledges of $5,000 or more will be announced during the program and gifts at all levels will be listed on a display. Those who choose not to have their gift shared, will be listed as anonymous.
The 30-minute program will be held in the Atrium of St. Mary’s Hospital on November 28 at Noon with Betsy Knight, Hospital Administration and Pastoral Care Staff. If you have any specific questions about the Chapel Renovation campaign, contact the Foundation at 608-258-5600.
All benefactors will be recognized for their gifts in a display in the St. Mary’s Hospital lobby and our Momentum Newsletter Spring Annual Giving Report.
