Clinic Information

The cerebral palsy clinic provides multidisciplinary care to children with spasticity and cerebral palsy. Seeing multiple specialists in one appointment allows for better communication among providers and for more coordinated care of your child. During an appointment at the clinic, your child may be seen by specialists in:

  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Neurology
  • Nutrition
  • Orthotics
  • Durable medical equipment

The cerebral palsy clinic is held on the second, fourth, and fifth Wednesdays of the month. Please call 314-268-4051 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

At the Down syndrome center, we aim to improve the quality of life of children with Down syndrome by providing medical care from a multidisciplinary team of talented specialists, coordination of services, and education and support for families. This helps ensure that each child’s medical, developmental, and therapeutic needs are being met.

The number of specialists your child sees will depend on his or her unique needs and may include specialists in:

  • Genetics
  • Developmental pediatrics
  • Otolaryngology (ENT)
  • Audiology

We will work closely with your primary care provider (PCP) and ensure integration of specialty care with ongoing treatment. We will provide a comprehensive report summarizing your child’s visit to both you and your primary care provider.

We are able to see children as soon as they are diagnosed with Down syndrome. Your initial visit may take several hours, as your child will be evaluated by our multidisciplinary team. Many babies are diagnosed with Down syndrome prenatally, and we encourage families to call with questions.

Please call 314-577-5639 for more information or to schedule an appointment with the Down syndrome center.

Your child may be referred to the Marfan clinic by his or her primary care doctor when your child shows signs of Marfan syndrome or other related disorders (e.g., Loeys-Dietz syndrome and familial thoracic aortic aneurysm dissection) or when there is a family history of Marfan syndrome.

During a visit to the Marfan clinic, your child will be seen by specialists in:

  • Medical genetics
  • Genetic counseling
  • Pediatric cardiology

During your visit, our team will perform a genetic evaluation, which includes obtaining detailed family and medical histories, and perform a thorough physical examination, including an echocardiogram and EKG, if indicated. Additional evaluations and testing may be recommended.

Once the evaluation and physical are complete, our genetic counselor will explain your child’s diagnosis and what it means for the future, including recommendations for follow-up care and the likelihood that the diagnosis is a risk for others in the family.

The clinic is held from 8 am - 12 pm on the first Friday of each month in the Dallas Heart Center at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
