You do not need insurance to complete virtual care. The maximum out of pocket cost is $39 for an e-visit or $59 for a video visit. The cost could be less if filed with an accepted insurance.

Note if you are an existing SSM Health patient and your insurance has covered in-person visits in the past, the same insurance should be accepted through SSM Health Express Virtual Care. You will be directed to pay with a credit card or a health savings account (HSA) card before receiving care.

Yes, we serve both new and existing patients. SSM Health Express Virtual Care is available to anyone in our four regions of service: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. A brief registration process will be required for your first visit.

All the information you provide is encrypted and protected.

Yes, you will be receiving treatment from a board certified SSM Health nurse practitioner (NP) or physician associate (PA). They can coordinate medications when necessary. There are also some cases where they will suggest that you visit in-person depending on the severity of your symptoms.

We do our best to treat you online, but not every condition can be treated via virtual care. If your health concern cannot be addressed through SSM Health Express Virtual Care, you may be directed to an in-person clinic for care.

If we can't provide treatment, you will not be charged.

If you have concerns about a chronic condition, need a change to an existing medication, or are seeking medical consultation/advice on a condition not listed, a virtual care visit might not be appropriate.

SSM Health Express Virtual Care providers are not able to:

  • order imaging (X-rays and scans)
  • prescribe controlled substances
  • conduct care requiring an in-person visit (such as physicals for school, work, or employment)
  • manage chronic conditions
  • accept workers’ compensation

For any of these situations, please contact your primary care provider. If you do not have one, you can find a primary care provider near you or compare your care options to find the right level of care for your condition.

Enter your email address and phone number during the short registration process. Once a provider is ready to speak to you, you will receive a call or a text message with a link to the Zoom video chat.

Our licensed SSM Health Express Virtual Care providers can send necessary medications to the pharmacy of your choice as part of your treatment plan.

SSM Health Express Virtual Care is not an online pharmacy and does not dispense medications. You are responsible for the cost of any medications, over-the-counter treatments, or follow-up visits.
