Making Health Care Better Together

At SSM Health, we’re committed to making health care the best possible experience for our patients and their families. High levels of patient satisfaction are something we strive to achieve for all of the services we provide. That’s why we invite you to apply to SSM Health Medical Group Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC).

As a member and adviser, you’ll represent the voice of the patient in formal discussions with members of our medical staff. Your valuable input and perspectives, together with those from other members, will be taken into careful consideration.

What are the goals of the advisory council?

The goal of the Advisory Program is to ensure that patients and families are at the center of every decision made at SSM Health Medical Group in St. Louis that affects quality of care, safety and patient experience.

  • Advise & Share
    • Provide feedback at monthly council meetings and in focus groups and workgroups.
  • Drive & Lead
    • Identify and drive projects that are important to the Advisory Program, working with Medical Group practices along the way. Help transform the culture towards patient-centered care.

Started in 2019, the PFAC allows for patients to connect with other families and directly provide feedback to clinicians, committees, and the administrative team. Council members draw on their diverse, individual and shared experiences.

What happens at council meetings?

The council meets quarterly from 5:30-6:30 pm virtually via Zoom. Agendas are made collaboratively with members of the clinical, management and administrative teams.

Council members advise, share, partner, and lead efforts with generally fall into three buckets:

  • Patient quality and safety
  • Patient/family experience
  • Staff recognition opportunities

Membership requires ability to regularly attend the quarterly meetings and work collaboratively with council affiliates to achieve council goals.
