About the program.

SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee is offering Veggie Rx, a free 12-week healthy eating and wellness program aimed at increasing fresh produce consumption and reducing the risk of chronic diseases. Led by a registered dietitian and physician, the program offers classes on nutrition, cooking, and healthy shopping, as well as free pre and post labs for participants. Our commitment to sustainability and quality drives our mission to deliver nature's best to your table.


We partner with FireLake Groceries to offer participants up to $25 worth of fresh produce every week! (Amount varies based on family size.) SSM Health offers free biometric screening for all participants. This includes but is not limited to:


  • Blood glucose
  • Cholesterol
  • Triglycerides
  • Blood pressure

Yes, you will need to sign up for a membership (free) at FireLake Discount Foods. There are currently three participating locations; Shawnee, Tecumseh, and McCloud.
