It's Easy to Share a Good Story!

Guidelines and expectations.

Step 1: Identify Patients

Identification of patients to profile – look for:

  • Patients involved in new program or service
  • Patients who underwent a novel procedure
  • Patients with excellent outcome
  • Patients with compelling background

Step 2: Let Us Know!

Please share as much information as possible about the patient (age, diagnosis, treatment), the doctor overseeing the case, and why you think it would be a good patient story to highlight (potential uses include, but are not limited to website, Glennon magazine, local/national media, social media pages).

If we agree there is potential for the story submitted, we will connect with you for further information/ direction.

Step 3: Get Permission

If we have use for your submitted story, we will ask you to:

  • Contact the patient directly and ask if they are willing to be profiled. Please do not call them or discuss possibilities with them until we give you the go-ahead.
    • Due to patient privacy, we cannot reach out to the patient before you or your office explains why we’d like to contact them, and they give permission for you to pass along their information.
  • Notify patient that they must complete our Media Release Form, giving us permission to draft their story for use.
  • Advise patient that they will have have the opportunity to review and approve the story prior to any use.
  • Send the patient's full name, city, state, preferred phone, and preferred email once patient grants permission.

Step 4: Create the Story

We will contact the patient to develop the story and bring in our writer as needed. We also will reach out to the doctor(s) , nurse(s) or key staff involved via email with a few questions to confirm diagnosis, treatment, and outcome. We could also do this by phone or in person, but we are trying to limit the impact on the clinicians’ schedule and email seems to work well.

Step 5: Patient Review

Stories developed will be sent for review by the patient/family and clinicians if applicable.

Step 6: Photos & Videos

Any photos or video will be coordinated by our office. If we need to schedule photos with patient and/or clinicians, we will advise.
