What are hospital visiting hours?
Our general visiting hours are 8 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week. After 8 PM, a maximum of 2 visitors are allowed and visitors must be parents, legal guardians or grandparents of the patient. For detailed information about visiting hours for a specific unit, please view our visitor policy.
Remember to check-in at the visitor's desk upon arrival.
To keep our hospital safe and welcoming, all visitors over 12 years old (including parents) will be given a name badge with their photo at our Visitor Check-In. Visitors are asked to wear their badges above their waist while they are visiting our facility. Please bring your driver’s license or photo ID to be scanned; visitors who do not have a photo ID can have a photo taken at check-in.
Where can I get something to eat or drink at the hospital?
We have a cafe, located on the first floor of the main tower, offering casual dining and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. If you need a pep in your step, the hospital has it's own Starbucks located on the ground floor by the main entrance to the hospital. Find cafe hours and additional in-hospital food options.
Are there restaurants located close to the hospital?
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital is nestled on Grand Avenue in the Midtown neighborhood of the city of St. Louis, making many of the city's wonderful restaurants a short drive away. You can choose from American, Asian, Italian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, numerous delis, and everyone's favorite: pizza!
Is there anywhere my child can go to play and just be a kid?
Because kids need to be kids, even in the hospital, we have multiple play areas throughout the building tailored to children of different ages and abilities.
- The Rally Squirrel playground gives patients and siblings a place to play, relax and be kids.
- The indoor playground outside The Costas Center gives patients and families a place to explore.
The playground and playrooms are open at various times throughout the day. Check with your child’s nurse before going to one of the play areas, as they may need to take extra precautions for safety.
Also, because of our patient security system, Cuddles, patients will need to be accompanied by a staff member whenever they leave their floor. Most of the play areas are located on the units.
My child has to spend the night, can I stay with them?
While your child is in our care, you can expect continual communication with our doctors and nurses, a private room just for your family, plus conveniences like Wi-Fi Internet access, on-site showers and an in-room parent bed—all to make being away from home just a little easier.
