Part 1 - Understanding Birth

Watch online modules from the comfort of your home explaining the the childbirth process.

• Access information when, where and how you'd prefer
• Share information with your partner and support people
• Learn with videos, quizzes, and extended activities
• Get organized with tools, planning checklists, and trackers
• Modules are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese.

Once enrolled in the online class, you have access to the material for nine months, so you can go back and review as often as you'd like. It takes about four to six hours to complete the class.

Part 2 - Instructor-led Class

3 Hour Class with a Childbirth Educator

This in-person session provides an opportunity for expecting parents to spend time with the SSM Health Childbirth Educators prior to the delivery of their baby.

• Opportunity to practice positioning
• Optional tour of birthing and postpartum units

Key concepts from the class include "Understanding Birth" eClass modules will be reviewed and an overview of the birth experience at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - Madison will be provided.

We ask that participants complete the eClass modules prior to attending the instructor-led class. Also, please bring any questions as time will be allowed during class for discussion.

Registration Details (PLEASE READ):

Register for the instructor-led class that you would like to attend. Once registered, you will receive an email within 5 business days which will include the link and redemption code to access the Understanding Birth e-Class. Approximately 1 week prior to class you will be emailed a calendar invite which includes details for the instructor-led class.
