The Infectious Disease (ID) Clinic at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis serves the growing population of people living with HIV/AIDS in the greater St. Louis area and to prevent future transmission of HIV/AIDS by providing education and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as well as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) treatments. The ID Clinic has access to the latest advancements in medical care, including injectable medications for both HIV treatment and prevention, as well as Ryan White funding and a dedicated pharmacy access specialist to help cover out-of-pocket costs for those who qualify.
The ID Clinic also serves the healthcare needs of patients with Hepatitis C, providing diagnostic testing and highly-effective curative treatments to reduce the risk of death from liver cancer and cirrhosis.
The ID Clinic is located within the Internal Medicine (IM) Clinic at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. To get to the ID Clinic, enter the hospital’s west entrance, make a left at the first hallway and follow the signs for the Internal Medicine elevator. Take the elevator to the first floor, and the clinic is right outside the elevator doors.
ABOUT PrEP:
PrEP is daily medication taken by mouth or an injection taken every two months to prevent HIV for people who are at risk for exposure. Online telehealth appointments are available for PrEP patients.
ABOUT PEP:
PEP is one month of daily medication taken within 72 hours after a known or suspected HIV exposure to prevent the transmission of HIV
