SSM Health Medical Group, located on the second floor of the Medical Plaza attached to SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, provides heart care to patients. It is the largest heart care program in Southern Illinois, outside of Carbondale.

Our cardiologist and interventional cardiologist offer outpatient evaluations for various conditions, including coronary artery disease, chest pain, difficulty breathing, heart failure, and heart rhythm irregularities. They also perform pre-operative cardiac risk assessments.

Additionally, they lead a Cognitive Heart Failure Clinic that focuses on caring for patients with heart failure. The team focuses on education, medication management, and self-management skills to help patients lead healthier lifestyles and reduce the likelihood of hospital readmissions.

As part of SSM Health Medical Group, the heart care specialists are connected to a team of highly-skilled physicians and health care providers across multiple specialties to ensure comprehensive patient care.
